Abstract:Abstracts:Scarab beetles is an important pest harming Castanea mollissima, which often eat out the tender leaves in the production process, resulting in secondary growing leaves and weakening chestnut photosynthesis efficacy during the optimum pollination period of flowering, affecting the yield and quality of Castanea mollissima.During 2008 to 2010, the authors proceeded a survey on scarab occurrence and life history in grafted Chestnut plantation. By using the feature of “suspended animation”, the authors adopted the measures of manual capture, and enhanced forest management technology of non-pollution to prevent and cootrol the pest. The results showed that such prevention and cootrol method can greatly reduce the number of pest, and control the insect population density of the following year, realizing the effects of doing harm but no disasters.
