Abstract:Aythya baeri (Anseriformes : Anatidae) is breeding in northeastern of china, Far East of Russianand over- wintering in eastern and southern of china, southeast of Asia and Indian subcontinent. In recent years , its population has declined sharply. In 2012, it was designated as a critically endangered species (cR) by the International union for con- servation of Nature (IucN) . Birdlife International has estimated that its global population of mature individuals did not exceed 700. In 2017and 2018, we have conducted a survey on the distribution ofAythya baeri and investigated its breed- ing population in Huangpi District, wuhan . At last, some suggestions on its preservation were put forward.
