Abstract:17-year-old half-sib families of Larix kaempferi seed orchard were researched in Changlinggang Forest Farm of Jianshi County. To study the genetic variation and correlation of growth traits among different families, select excellent families and verify the results of early selection, so as to provide materials for genetic improvement of Larix kaempferi. The results showed that there were significant differences in DBH, height and volume among families. Correlation analysis results indicated that there were significant positive correlation amang growth traits between 6-year-old and 17-year-old and correlation coefficients ranged from 0.541 to 0.947. The early selection results of 6-year-old families were basically consistent with those of 17-year-old families; Taking volume as the selection index, the genetic gains of DBH, height and volume of the top 10 families of 17-year-old students reached 3.03%, 1.77% and 7.11% respectively.
