Abstract:Coarse woody debris usually refers to dead standing trees with a certain coarse head diameter, tree trunks(fallen trees),large dead branches and stumps that have not yet decomposed and are in decomposition formed by natural death or human disturbance in the forest ecosystem, which are important structural and functional units of the forest ecosystem, and have important functions such as nutrient cycling, carbon pool storage, community regeneration and providing habitat for other organisms. In this paper, we summarize the research progress on the genesis, classification, distribution and ecological function of coarse wood residues at home and abroad in recent years, and look forward to future research, in order to provide reference for the study of coarse wood debris.
