Abstract:Freezing disaster is an infrequent natural disaster in southern China, but it often causes great damage to forest ecosystem. Based on the preliminary investigation of the urban forests in Wuhan and its surrounding areas after the severe freezing rain and ice disaster that encountered in February 2024, the direct and indirect impacts of the disaster on the carbon pool of forest ecosystem were discussed through the observed post-disaster performance of forests, and then scientific and feasible suggestions on the post-disaster recovery and reconstruction of forest vegetation were provided.
